Welcome to Chapters & Crumbs. Crumbs are often associated with the small, delightful remnants of something delicious, like all of my favorite things- cookies, cakes, and bread. I hope to keep sharing the little delightful crumbs of the internet, books, my brain, and life.
As a lover of books, I wanted to have a *little* space to talk about them. My own little corner dedicated to doing what I love doing— talking nonsense. Here it is. Stay a while.
I hate to say this, but, spring belongs to the girls— and Jane Austen. I don’t make the rules. There is not one adaptation that does not encompass the beauty of spring like an Austen adaptation. I dare you to step outside and fight me on this. It may seem repetitive and redundant (repetitive and redundant), to always gab on about Austen, but after my husband and my kids, she might be the great love of my life. A feast for the eyes is what it is. Anyway, I won’t bore you!
Last week, I posted about getting into the *spring* of things, and one of my aspirations this year is to live more seasonally. This week, we’re going to chat books, movies, and other delightful spring-ish things.
Spring in a book and/or movie might be my favorite after fall. As someone with seasonal allergies, this might be the world’s biggest oxymoron, but, it’s true. The aesthetic, the colors, the rain, the flowers, I adore all of it. Now is the perfect time to take your books outside and indulge in a little r&r in between meetings, making lunch, or all of the other thousand things we do. Unless it’s raining, then I encourage you to cozy up with a cup of tea and pretend those other things don’t exist.
Spring beckons us to let go of heavy things, not just our coats, but anything and everything that is not allowing us to grow. It’s almost symbolic, but as we allow spring to do its thing in nature, we can do the same in our homes and minds.
After you’ve organized and re-arranged all your things to create space for lighter, brighter items of clothing and/or new projects and dormant dreams, find time to explore all of the wonderful things spring brings. Longer walks, fresh fruit, flowers, and new hobbies.
Today I’m sharing all of the books and movies you should consume this spring! Let me know your favorites!
Books:
Anne of Green Gables- Anne Shirley, the eternal optimist. I need to re-read this!
Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries- A professor journeys to a small town to study faerie folklore. This is at the top of my list for spring!
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn- A coming of age story where a young girl strives to grow and flourish despite harsh conditions.
Braiding Sweetgrass- A botanist and indigenous woman shares her knowledge about plants. I can’t wait to read this!
Movies:
Marie Antoinette (2006): bright, whimsical, historical.

The Secret Garden (1993): spring incarnate, lush, and tender.

Matilda (1996): whimsical, child-like, warm.

Emma (2020): painting aesthetics, playful, decadent.

Tuck Everlasting (2002): gentle, dreamy, melancholic.

Pride & Prejudice (2005): Soft, dawn, romantic.

What is your favorite spring movie?
Spring Eats: Just some lovely eats I’ve found recently.
Broma Bakery’s Lucky Charm Rice Krispies Treats
Martha Stewart’s Asparagus, Leek, and Gruyere Quiche
Book Chat:
I re-read Heartless Hunter in preparation for Rebel Witch (which I’m currently reading and enjoying). I still loved it! It was such a fun ride.
I’m so excited to read Sunrise on the Reaping, Haymitch’s novel in The Hunger Games series! I love that she is still writing in this universe. I recently re-watched the movies, and they seriously withstand the test of time. They are perfect.
I hope to chat more about books next week!
Currently listening:
I would hate to be the person that talks non-stop about the weather, but it is spring, and rain is indeed in the forecast. I love the cozy, jazz-y vibes of this week’s playlist.
Thank you for reading! Catch me in the streets making content!
